  • Splashfest Cancelled

    Unfortunately, due to severe weather and lightning storms, this year’s Splashfest was cancelled as safety had to take priority.

    The event will not be rescheduled, but we look forward to seeing everyone at next year’s event.

  • Waste Minimisation Strategy Approved by Council

    The Council approved the Waste Minimisation Strategy at its meeting on Tuesday, 28 February 2017. The strategy will place the City on track to diverting 65 per cent of all waste from landfill by 2020 and will guide the City, with your support, in efforts to improve the diversion of waste over the next four years.

    Thank you for your responses which were mainly supportive of the strategy with only very minor amendments suggested and these will be included as part of the strategy’s implementation.

    Thank you to all those who attended a concert during the 20th Annual Summer Concerts in the Park series. Although February's unseasonal weather forced the cancellation of the second concert, the overall attendance estimate for the three concerts of 3,850 people was an increase of 1,100 people from the 2016 Concert series (2,750).

    The City received approximately 140 surveys. Thank you to all those concert attendees who participated in the survey, who were also eligible to participate in a draw to win the following prizes:

    • First Prize: $150 Shorehouse Restaurant voucher
    • Second Prize: $75 Claremont Quarter voucher
    • Third Prize: $50 Rebel Sport voucher

  • Circe Circle and School Road (between Alexander and Adelma Roads) - Road Resurfacing and Associated Works

    Work has been completed on the above section of road. This work was undertaken as a result of the road suffering substantial fatigue cracking. The work included upgrades to the kerbing, drainage lids, pram ramps and crossovers.

    The results of the community engagement survey which was undertaken with the users of Your Voice Nedlands have provided assurance that the City is meeting the needs of the community in relation to community engagement. However, as a result of the survey, several continual improvements were identified.

  • Gallop Road (between Wavell Road and Bruce Street) - Road resurfacing and installation of traffic calming devices

    The City has contracted Civcon Civil to undertake road resurfacing and associated works on Edward Street, between Broadway and Bruce from 13 February 2017 for a period of up to five weeks.

    The activities include kerb and stormwater upgrades, road resurfacing and traffic calming.

    The City has contracted Civcon Civil to undertake road resurfacing and associated works on Edward Street, between Broadway and Bruce from 20 February 2017 for a period of up to six weeks.

    The activities include:

    2 March 2017

    · Concrete works

    10 March 2017

    · Spray sealing works

    · Kerb installation works

    During the works, road closures will be required with detours provided. Closures are planned to cease around 4.30 pm to minimise inconvenience. However we do ask that you consider increasing your commuting times during peak periods when planning your journey.

    The operations team on site will endeavour to offer access to your property at all times, however there may be short periods when materials are required to cure. On these occasions the City will ensure contact has been made and suitable alternative arrangements have been discussed.

    The kerbs will be replaced and upgraded with a new standard semi-mountable kerb. Where necessary reticulation may be temporarily re-routed to all the works to proceed. If the reticulation is damaged during this process, the City will make good any repairs. However it is important that you test your reticulation system and report any faults within two weeks of the works being completed. After this period the City cannot be held responsible for further repairs.

  • Jutland Parade/Iris Avenue Intersection Upgrade

    The proposal from an adjacent property owner to modify the Jutland Parade/Iris Avenue Intersection was approved by the Council at its meeting of 23 August 2016.

    All approvals for the project are now in place. The City is waiting for the Project Manager to provide a construction date which is expected to occur following the construction of the house which is expected to be completed by 30 June 2018.

  • Underground Power - Energy Minister announces results from SUPP Round 6

    The Energy Minister, The Hon. Mike Nahan has announced today the successful applicants for the State Underground Power Program (SUPP), Round 6. Unfortunately the three (3) proposals by the City of Nedlands were unsuccessful.

    However, the proposal by the Town of Cambridge which includes the City's boundary (Alderbury Street) at Floreat was successful.
