City of Perth - The Avenue - Traffic Management Proposal - Time is running out to have your say
Share City of Perth - The Avenue - Traffic Management Proposal - Time is running out to have your say on Facebook Share City of Perth - The Avenue - Traffic Management Proposal - Time is running out to have your say on Twitter Share City of Perth - The Avenue - Traffic Management Proposal - Time is running out to have your say on Linkedin Email City of Perth - The Avenue - Traffic Management Proposal - Time is running out to have your say linkCLOSED: This discussion has concluded. The City of Perth recently began a community consultation process regarding the partial closure of The Avenue between Princess Road and Broadway, which would effectively block through-traffic (except two-wheeled vehicles) (refer document library - Proposed Street Alterations - The Avenue - City of Perth). The survey started 19 June 2017 and closes on 7 July 2017 – but the City of Nedlands was not included in the initial survey distribution.
The origin of the proposal appears to be a petition lodged at the City of Subiaco in December 2015 by 12 petitioners in The Avenue. The issues raised were the quantity of traffic, including a high number of trucks and the impact existing parking had on road safety. The City of Subiaco sought a report but the impact of the City of Perth Act 2016 took precedence and the report was not completed.
It is the opinion of City of Nedlands Administration that closing The Avenue to the majority of through-traffic is an extremely excessive response to a marginal traffic issue. Adjustments to the Princess Road intersection (promoting reduced speed) and reviewing current parking prohibitions would be better options.
Please download and complete the survey (refer document library) and send to:
- GHD, Civil Roads Engineer, Transportation (Steven Wilson), by email to: steven.wilson@ghd.com
- Perth City Council, Graduate Traffic and Transport Engineer, Transport (Aaron Lee), by email to: aaron.lee@cityofperth.wa.gov.au
It would be appreciated if a copy could also be forwarded to City of Nedlands Technical Services Director, Martyn Glover, by email to: yourvoice@nedlands.wa.gov.au.You can also make comments on this page, see below. The City will be monitoring community feedback to ensure City of Nedlands' residents are represented in this process.

Environmental weeds causes erosion, alters water availability, changes soil nutrients, increases the likelihood of bush fires, and changes the vegetation communities within the reserves. -
