    The City has contracted the Company, Roads 2000 to undertake road surface upgrades and associated works on the corner of Wavell Road and Cygnet Crescent from Thursday 3 May 2018 from 7am to 3.30pm for a period of up to one week.

    The works will include the installation of new kerbs and asphalt and may also include some preparatory works outside of these dates, for example removal of kerbs and paint markings.

    Road closures will be in place with detours around the work site. Local traffic will continue to have access whilst closures are in place and on-site traffic controllers will be happy to assist.

    Due to lost time from the weather, the City will be closing Brockway Road to all traffic on Saturday, 28 April 2018 from 7am to 5pm.

    The intersection of Lemnos Street and Brockway will not be closed.

    If weather permits, the works will be finished by Friday, 4 May.

    Signage will be on display at the works site advising motorists of the road closures and detours. Please check out the map of the diversion routes in the document library.

    If possible, motorists should use the Montgomery/Stephenson Avenue detour as the preferred option to assist with minimising delays.

    College Park playground has been damaged by fire and as a result, the City has been forced to temporarily close the playground on safety grounds.

    Currently, the City is waiting on a report on the structural integrity of the equipment which is expected to be finalised by early next week.

    The City is intending to close the cul-de-sac end of Government Road for a period of ten months, commencing on Tuesday, 1 May 2018 through to 28 February 2019. The purpose of the closure is to allow Western Power to use this section as a temporary storage area for the lay-down of materials and site facilities for the Nedlands West Hollywood underground power project (refer document library - plan of proposal).

    This temporary closure is being undertaken in accordance with the Local Government Act 1995, Subdivision 5, “Certain provisions about thoroughfares” Clause 3.50, “Closing certain thoroughfares to vehicles”.

    If you wish to lodge a submission in relation to the road closure, please address them to Chief Executive Officer, City of Nedlands, 71 Stirling Highway, Nedlands WA 6009 or forward an email to council@nedlands.wa.gov.au. All submissions will be taken into consideration, and are to be submitted no later than Friday 27 April 2018.

    The City is progressing with the closure of Brockway Road works between Lemnos Street and Underwood Avenue from Monday, 9 April for a period of four weeks. The road closure has been reviewed and the following will occur during this time:

    Monday, 9 April to Friday, 13 April - full road closure for 24 hours

    Monday 16 April to Friday, 4 May - full road closure between the hours of 7am and 5pm

    Weekends: The road will be open to traffic

    Please note that for operational reasons, the Lemnos Street intersection with Brockway Road has been closed for today (Tuesday, 10 April) and will re-open from Wednesday, 11 April.

    This intersection will need to be closed for works on Tuesday 17 April and Wednesday 18 April between 9am and 5pm. Another closure will be required on Friday 27 April between 7am and 5pm.

    The City has commenced the path upgrades at Mt Claremont Oval (click on heading above to see the map). The upgrades are expected to be completed by Friday, 20 April. The paths will be closed on weekdays between the hours of 7am and 4pm while the works are being undertaken. During this time, please use the entries to the park at Alfred Road or Cleland Street via Lisle Street or Montgomery Avenue.

    The upgraded paths will consist of red asphalt and limestone with limestone spillways installed at intervals to address water runoff.

    Signage is displayed on site to inform reserve users about the works and path closures.

    The pathways are being upgraded in accordance with the City’s Natural Area Path Network Policy.

    You are invited to participate in a free demonstration on rose care at the Peace Memorial Rose Garden by the Rose Society of Western Australia on Wednesday 18 April from 10 am to 12 noon. The demonstration is being undertaken in conjunction with the City gardeners and will cover:

    • Rose dead-heading
    • Pest and Disease identification/treatment
    • Weed control
    • General rose care.

    The construction of the new scoreboard at Allen Park is well underway. All the ground works are complete and the scoreboard is ready to be installed. The City is waiting for the delivery of the roller door to install to ensure it is protected from damage occurring.

    Following concerns raised by the local community and residents, the City has reviewed the path and crossing towards the Swanbourne Primary School at the intersection of Narla Road and Devon Road, Swanbourne.

    The outcome of the review is that the path and crossing will be widened to accommodate the pedestrian traffic more safely (see document library). The Town of Claremont will be undertaking minor pruning of the verge vegetation as the project borders its council area.

    The City proposes to complete the works during the school holidays, commencing the week of 16 April 2018 and will take up to one week to complete.
