    The City has appointed licensed contractors to undertake weed control on road reserves during June-July.

    An application of glyphosate will be applied to road kerbs, traffic islands, footpaths, and shared use paths for the eradication of annual and perennial weeds and grasses.

    This herbicide is being applied in accordance with the product requirements, as is required by state and federal legislation.

    This treatment will not be carried out adjacent to properties where residents have registered to be included on the City's non-spray register.

    There will be continuing closure of the section of footpath along Montgomery Avenue, Mt Claremont to allow for repairs on the boundary wall fence.

    The temporary closure of the footpath, signage and tape will remain in place in the interim to inform the general public of the closure.

    The City will be liaising with property owners to facilitate a timeframe.

    The council had its meeting on Tuesday 11 June 2019. Council approved verge parking on Verdun Street to permit holders only with all other existing prohibitions to remain unchanged.

    The report follows the completion of a review of parking prohibitions in the Hollywood Precinct area which comprised of measuring the parking occupancy level, taking into account the high demand for parking in the area from the hospitals.

    Broadway Foreshore Carpark is in its final stages, with only some minor touch ups to complete when the weather clears. This should not affect users of the car park, which is now fully functional.

    The road resurfacing works on the Broadway Foreshore have been delayed due to weather conditions. Works are now expected to be completed by 24 June 2019.

    Works will continue to be undertaken during weekdays between 7am and 5pm and the City of Nedlands parking bays will not be available.

    Traffic Controllers will be on site directing traffic to available parking on the City of Perth side of the car park.

    The City has appointed contractors, Civcon to undertake road resurfacing works on the Broadway Foreshore car park from Monday 27 May 2019, on weekdays between 7am and 5pm for a period of up to three weeks. During this time the City of Nedlands parking bays will not be available.

    Some preparatory works will undertaken outside of these dates which may include service location and paint markings. The actual works will include the renewal of kerbing, upgrading of the drainage system and resurfacing.

    Traffic Controllers will be on site directing traffic to available parking on the City of Perth side of the car park.

    Council at is meeting on Tuesday, 25 June approved:

    • 3-hour parking prohibitions on the north side of Kirwan Street and Whitfeld Street, between Birkdale Street and Selby Street; and
    • No parking prohibitions on the south side of Kirwan Street and Whitfeld Street between Birkdale Street and Selby Street.

    Permits are available for residents and their visitors wishing to park beyond the proposed 3 hour restriction. To apply for a permit, please refer to the guide and application form on the City’s website.


    Please organise a parking permit by Friday, 26 July 2019, as after this time the new parking restrictions will be implemented.

    The City is proposing to make changes to parking on Kirwan Street and Whitfeld Street in response to complaints and concerns received in relation to parked vehicles creating bottlenecks and safety issues.

    The streets are currently zoned unrestricted on Whitfeld Street and no-parking on Saturdays, from April to September on Kirwan Street.

    A parking survey has been undertaken of the area. As a result, the City is proposing to re-zone the northern side of Kirwan and Whitfeld Streets as three-hour parking and on the southern side as no-parking. A plan of the proposed changes is below (click on heading above).

    The City will be undertaking works to lay crushed limestone on the existing car parks from Tuesday, 21 May 2019 for a period of approximately one week during 7am and 5pm weekdays.

    Work will commence on the western end of the road (adjacent to Karrakatta Cemetery), by blocking off existing parking areas, 50 metres at a time.

    The City has appointed Contractors, Civcon to undertake car park upgrades at the intersection of Robinson Street and Stirling Highway, Nedlands from Thursday 9 May 2019 for approximately one week between the hours of 7am and 5pm.

    The works will include the removal and replacement of the surface.
