Consultation has concluded. The City is working on a suite of policies and amendments to introduce and enforce built form criteria.

Background

In April 2019, the City’s Local Planning Scheme No. 3 (LPS3) was gazetted. LPS3 permits increased density to areas of the City that abut major transport corridors or are recognised activity or neighbourhood centres. The City has identified four distinct Precincts across these areas:

  • Broadway
  • Hampden - Hollywood
  • Nedlands Stirling Highway Activity Corridor
  • Waratah Village

Currently the standard provisions of the State planning framework, including State Planning Policies 7.0 and 7.3, apply to all Development Applications within the City. The City is developing Local Planning Policies for each Precinct, which will respond to each precinct’s context and desired future character.

The City will be undertaking an in-depth community engagement program to help shape the policy response for each Precinct.

Note: The Nedlands Town Centre is now being absorbed into the entire study area that comprises Stirling Highway West and Stirling Highway East, which is now referenced as the Stirling Highway Activity Corridor Precinct Area.
