Nedlands Stirling Highway Activity Corridor Precinct

The Nedlands Stirling Highway Activity Corridor Precinct spans the Highway from Loch Street in the west to Clifton Street in the east. The project area encompasses the Mixed Use zone on Stirling Highway and the adjacent residential areas located north and south of the Highway (Annotated below as Precincts A, B, E, F, G, H, I).

LPS3 introduced new zoning and density coding to Stirling Highway and up-coded the residential transition areas, allowing higher density development within this Precinct area.

The City now has an opportunity to prepare a policy informed by community engagement that outlines the vision for the precinct. The policy will also include built form provisions that provide a design response consistent with the desired character of the area.

What has been done so far?

In mid-2019, the City engaged consultants to undertake engagement with the local community about their future vision for the Town Centre Precinct. The feedback gathered during this consultation process will directly influence the creation of the local precinct planning policy.

In early 2020, the City engaged specialist consultants to undertake a Character and Built Form study for the Town Centre Precinct. The City also undertook character surveys of the residential areas north and south of the highway.

The findings and recommendations of these background reports will be used as an informing document to assist in preparing a policy that aligns with community expectation.

What is happening next?

Engagement for the Nedlands Stirling Highway Activity Corridor (NSHAC) Precinct Area is underway.

The Stakeholder Reference Group (SRG) for the SHAC Precinct area has been established and will meet over the coming months to work with the City in developing a vision for the SHAC Precinct and identify those key design elements that will help define the future look and feel of the precinct.

Opportunities for the wider community to be involved in informing this process will be available - and we strongly encourage you to fill in the "Keep Updated" form below, so you don't miss out.
