Hampden/Hollywood Precinct

The Hampden Hollywood Precinct is located between the Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre and Stirling Highway and is home to the Hampden Road retail and commercial area.

When LPS3 was gazetted in April 2019 it included changes to the zoning and density coding that will allow for greater development density within the precinct, on both the commercial and residential lots.

The City now has an opportunity to prepare a planning policy that outlines the vision for the precinct, and to provide a design response that is consistent with the character of the area.

What has been done so far?

Noting that the Hampden/Hollywood precinct falls within UWA/QEIIMC Specialised Activity Centre, the work undertaken by the City of Nedlands for the Hampden/Hollywood Precinct will ultimately feed into the UWA-QEIIMC Precinct Plan. The City of Nedlands and City of Perth are working collaboratively to ensure that the various pieces of work being undertaken across both local government areas are brought together under the higher-level plan. To support this project, a Citizens Advisory Panel has been established which comprises 40 members from both the City of Perth and the City of Nedlands to provide ongoing feedback about the direction of the project.

In addition to this, the City has engaged a heritage consultant to undertake a review of a previous heritage study, placing focus on the character and heritage value within the Hampden/Hollywood Precinct. The outcomes of this study will be included as important information to be considered by the community during this consultation.

What is happening next?

The City invited local landowners, residents, business owners and workers to nominate to be a part of a newly created Community Reference Group (CRG) specifically for the Hampden/Hollywood Precinct. A CRG has now been formed with representatives from the community.

The Hampden/Hollywood Precinct CRG will meet over the coming months to work with the City and the consultants in developing a vision for the Hampden/Hollywood Precinct and identify those key design elements that will help define the future look, feel and functionality of the precinct. All outcomes of CRG workshops will be available on this project page for you to view.

Opportunities for the wider community to be involved in informing this process will be available - and we strongly encourage you to fill in the "Keep Updated" form below, so you don't miss out.
