Asquith Street car park and landscaping has been completed. However, the car park lighting is due to be installed in the coming months.

The Asquith Street and carpark in front of the Cellarbrations store is now open.

Final works to the carpark and park overthe next four weeks will include permanent line marking on the carpark, lighting, pram ramp indicators and landscaping.

The development of the car park and the park is progressing really well, although the rain has slowed works down a little. The change in the car park layout in front of the Cellarbrations Store is also progressing and will be completed soon. These projects are the first of a number of projects in this area. We look forward to finishing the work and having the park ready for your enjoyment in the coming weeks.

The City has appointed Contractors, Densford Civil to undertake the car park works from Tuesday, 4 June 2019, during weekdays between 7am-5pm for a period of six weeks. The works include:

• Removal of existing car bays off Olearia Lane
• Removal of some existing trees
• Installation of new car parking bays at the west end of Asquith Park
• Landscaping including a linking path
• The realignment of parking bays outside Cellarbrations Liquor Store.

The development application to the Council for approval of converting part of Asquith Park into a car park was approved by the Council at its meeting on 26 February 2019. The parking improvements will also include a new design for the balance of Asquith Park. The new park will extend to the Olearia Lane where the current car parking bays will be removed as part of these works. The plans include a new footpath and area for people to meet, along with new plants, flower beds and grassed areas. The existing Peppermint tree will remain to provide valuable shade in the park.

The City is progressing with its first project - Asquith Park redevelopment which includes the conversion of part of the park to a 18 bay car park plus turn around with the remainder and the existing car park becoming a new park.

As part of this process a development application has been lodged with the City's Planing Department which is now advertised. To view this development application, please visit the City's website.

The City has now finalised the proposed landscape design for the new park which will include the existing parking at the park, off Olearia Lane. Please visit the document library to view the design.

The Council at its meeting on 27 November 2018 approved the following for planning and implementation:

"Council:

1. Approves the Administration’s parking and playground options for the Asquith Park Precinct as follows:

a) Area 1: Option A – convert the western side of Asquith Park into a 20-bay car park with the balance being a park.

b) Area 2: Option A – install 5 new parking bays on the City-owned land in front of Cellarbrations Liquor Barn.

c) Area 3: Option B – Asquith Street (Strickland to Adderley) to remain as is.

d) Area 5: Option B – Olearia Lane to be included in the proposed park and playground (Area 4, Option B).

e) Area 6: Option A – Road reservation (end of Asquith at Mayfair Street) to be improved along with construction of a playground in an area of land within the Cottesloe Golf Club.

2. Approves Asquith Park and the carpark adjacent to Cellarbrations to be completed in 2018/19 Capital Works Program;

3. Supports the construction of the remaining projects subject to approval in future budgets; and

4. Administration include the works proposed for the west end of Asquith Street be included in the 2019/20 Budget for Council consideration.
