During October, the City advised local residents and the community that it was progressing with the installation of a new multi-purpose electronic scoreboard at Allen Park Oval. The scoreboard is being constructed to cater for the AFL, cricket and casual users at Allen Park oval (click on the heading above to view the image), and this work would be undertaken from the first week of November.

Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances this project has been rescheduled. The new schedule will be available soon.

    Proposal

The City has carefully selected a position at the base of the tree line on the north east corner to ensure residents view of the reserve is not impaired.

The benefits of this type of electronic scoreboard include a central control from the pavilion and an electronic roller-shutter that closes automatically when not in use to protect the scoreboard from the impacts of weather and acts of vandalism. The community will also be able to advertise its events and important announcements.

If you have any concerns in relation to this project, please contact the City’s Building Maintenance Coordinator, Marcus Sinden on (08) 9273 3500, or by email msinden@nedlands.wa.gov.au.

Claremont Football Club has partnered with the State Government to build a state-of-the-art stadium, which is focal point of Landcorp’s “Claremont on the Park” precinct.

The development provides an opportunity for the area to become a focus for the western suburbs community, where people meet, eat, watch entertainment, bring their families and play.

The vision for the stadium and surrounds is that it will be a place with a strong sense of community identity and energy. It could involve buskers’ festivals, a people's art market or student music concerts – it will be a community centre or hub.

For it to be a genuine community hub, it needs to be based on the community's needs and desires. This is where the Claremont Football Club needs your help.

They are inviting your ideas, thoughts and comments via an online survey. Click here to access the survey.

During August and September 2017, all turf areas within parks and reserves throughout the City will be treated for the control of broadleaf weeds. Due to the unpredictable nature of weather conditions, exact dates for spraying cannot be confirmed.

Appropriate signage, as required by the Health (Pesticides) Regulations 2011, will be clearly displayed during the application. Treatment will be undertaken by licensed contractors under the supervision of City staff.

Signage will be placed at each location and will remain in place until such time that the surface to which the product has been applied is dry. The operations will be monitored by City officers in accordance with safety guidelines and the City asks the public not to enter onto the area while the signs are displayed.

When the surface has dried, the signs will be removed and the public will be free to enter the area. City staff in attendance during and after treatment will be able to assist the public with any questions they may
    have.

The product to be applied is a weed-specific selective herbicide consisting of the active chemical combination of MCPA – 300 g/L + Clopyralid – 20 g/L + Diflufenican – 15 g/L. The product is to be applied in accordance with the product label, as is required by State and Federal laws.
