    The City will be upgrading and resurfacing Watkins Road between Victoria Avenue and the Swan River in Dalkeith. These works will include new kerbing, drainage pit and lids and the installation/upgrading of pram ramps.

    The works are being undertaken by Civicon Civil on behalf of the City and scheduled to be completed by 16 September 2016.

    Watkins Road will be closed during the day, over the period of the construction works. Traffic Management personnel will be in place to assist with entering and exiting the work area.

    This project has now been completed. Thank you to everyone for their patience during this period.

    Greenville Street and Iolanthe Street was completed to schedule on 12 August, with the exception of the installation of the road markings by Main Roads WA. Temporary road markings have been installed until the markings have been completed. For further project information please refer to the engagement page.

    Council at its meeting on 28 June 2016 approved the closure of Sayer Street (west of Jameson Street) from Tuesday, 26 July 2016.

    Administration is progressing with the closure which includes the development of concept turning head plans. The scope of works include kerb construction and associated drainage, road pavement adjustments, a raised pedestrian crossing on the east end, locked gates beyond the closure points for opening at times of emergency access and realignment of the existing footpath as required.

    The Street was closed on the 26 July 2016, with the permanent civil works to follow in the coming weeks.The gates are now in place, and the required turning heads are in the final stages of design. They will be constructed late 2016 or early 2017. Further information will be provided to nearby residences nearer the time.

    The proposal from an adjacent property owner to modify the Jutland Parade/Iris Avenue Intersection was approved by the Council at its meeting of 23 August 2016. The proposed modification will meet the clearance requirements of the Australian Standards.

    These modifications will bring more general safety benefits, through the improved layout of the intersection, as well as allowing the resident to achieve their preferred design solution.

    The Section 3.50 Consultation confirmed the community support for a left turn only arrangement at Nidjalla Loop and Alfred Road. This has been referred to Council for endorsement at the Council Meeting of 23 August 2016. Works will commence on 4 October 2016.

    The City has been working with residents living within, and in the proximity of the old Swanbourne High School precinct to address a range of traffic issues. During December 2015, Council requested officers to consider a range of options to address resident concerns, and to prepare a further report for Council consideration.

    A range of options was developed and feedback sought from the community, in particular those residents directly affected in the Swanbourne High School Subdivision (SGSS) site and the nearby residents of the Town of Claremont.

    The outcomes from the engagement activities were assessed to find solutions which were supported by the majority of residents and ratepayers.

    The roundabout intersection of Princess Road and Bruce Street is suffering substantial fatigue and cracking. Council funds along with funds from the Metropolitan Regional Road Group has enabled the work to be undertaken to upgrade this intersection. Council have also approved funding to upgrade and resurface Princess Road between Bruce Street and Broadway.

    Roads 2000 will be undertaking the work on behalf of the City. These works commenced on Monday 9 August 2016 and are expected to be completed by 16 September 2016.

    Princess Road will be closed during the day, over the period of the construction works. Traffic Management personnel will be in place to assist with entering and exiting the work area.

    Due to delays, the new expected completion date is 12 October 2016.
