The banners were removed because of the graffiti and the inappropriate language and comments placed on them.

The City provided laminated pubic notices at the entrances to the reserve and on the fences.

Thank you for your question. It is too early in the process to determine the fencing type. This engagement is to understand the community's views on the concept.

Hello, could you please clarify, what policies/documents regulate community engagement projects. Thanks a lot.

DK asked over 5 years ago

The City has a community engagement policy and operational documents which guides the development of community engagement projects. The City also uses community engagement methodologies and works within the International Association for Public Practitioners (IAP2) Framework for community engagement.

It should also be understood that establishing sport facilities on designated recreation fields like Mt Claremont Reserve do not legally require any consultation at all. However, Council has undertaken consultation to make the community aware of the proposal to establish a synthetic hockey pitch to raise awareness and seek community feedback as part of its commitment to engage with local residents and affected stakeholders.

The frequently asked questions have been developed from the report which was presented to the Council at its meeting on 8 October (refer newsfeed). The Westside Wolves have not provided the City with the questions which are presented on this engagement page, however they have provided the artists impressions/concept drawings.

The answers to your questions will be considered at the next stage of the project if the proposal is approved to allow a period of time for the Westside Wolves to prepare a detailed business proposal and designs, including funding sources.

Any proposal to extend to more than one artificial pitch will be considered if and when the question arises. Council processes would be put in place to consult with other users and the community as we do for all projects. The outcome will depend on the issues presented at the time. Council may also reject such a proposal if it thought the project was not suitable at the outset. This is conjecture and there is currently no indication that the current proposal will be expanded at anytime in the future.

The associated noise is constant which is why the majority of Synthetic pitches are not constructed in close proximity to residential areas. All responses to questions are being provided without bias to the Westside Wolves Hockey Club. The City is attempting to provide information, although limited at this time as the Westside Wolves have only presented concept drawings which are part of this engagement process.

All detailed information being requested by people cannot be provided at this stage as the project is open to community engagement for the purposes of the City gaining an understanding of the community’s views on the proposal to construct a permanent hockey facility on a portion of Mt Claremont Reserve.

The outcomes will enable the Council to consider the views of the community when making a decision to approve a period of time for the hockey club to further investigate and develop a detailed proposal and business plan. If this stage progress, all detailed requests will be researched and verified as part of this process.

That's great, but is there going to be a weighting towards those who are local? I can imagine every hockey club in the metro area would have a vested interest in supporting the proposal as it would reduce demand on other existing turfs, and for the fact that the removal of a green oval in a far away suburb has zero impact on them. I am worried that this is not a fair public consultation process. on Facebook Share In regards to my previous question about the fact that anyone outside of the local area can have a say, you replied that a street profile can be obtained.
