On 9 August 2019, the City received an application for the construction of a supermarket, specialty shops, food and beverage tenancies and kiosks, pharmacy, medical centre and a gym. The application included upgrading the Captain Stirling Hotel, car parking and landscaping and the demolition of five neighbouring houses.

The City received amended plans and support documentation in March 2020 which were advertised for public comment for 21 days concluding on 30 March 2020. Further amendments were received in May/June 2020. All submitted plans and support documentation are available for viewing in the document library.

The application was considered by the Metro Inner-North JDAP at its meeting on Monday 29 June 2020. The panel deferred the determination of the application for a period up to 90 days in accordance with section 5.10.1a of the DAP Standing Orders 2017, for the following reasons:

  • To provide greater certainty on the traffic, transport and access issues;
  • To provide further information on heritage issues
  • To address the integration of the project in the Nedlands Town Centre

On 21 July 2020, an Application for Review was lodged with the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT). Mediation occurred on 13 October and 14 December 2020. The mediations listed for 18 February 2021, 31 March 2021 and 11 May 2021 were vacated.

    The Applicant lodged an Application for Review with the State Administrative Tribunal on 21 July 2020. Following a Directions Hearing on 14 August 2020, the application was listed for mediation on 13 October 2020. Following a second mediation on 14 December 2020, the matter is now listed for mediation on 11 May 2021. Previously scheduled mediations on 18 February 2021 and 31 March 2021 were vacated.

  • JDAP Meeting Scheduled - Livestreamed

    The Metro West Joint Development Assessment Panel (JDAP) meeting has been scheduled for 9am Monday 29 June 2020 for determination of this application.

    This DAP meeting will be conducted by electronic means open to the public rather than requiring attendance in person. The meeting will be live streamed via audio teleconferencing via Zoom. Should you wish to make a presentation to the meeting, this form is required to be filled out and returned to the DAP secretariat.

    The City has received amended plans and support documentation in response to issues raised following the City's assessment of the March 2020 amended development application.

    The latest amended documentation is available in the Document Library and will be considered in the City's preparation of the Responsible Authority Report for the Joint Development Assessment Panel due 12 June 2020.

    In light of the impacts of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), the City has had to cancel tomorrow evening’s Community Consultation Session, due to the risks associated with large congregations of people.

    The City apologises for any inconvenience caused, however, the safety of both the community and staff must be prioritised.

    An information session will be held at Adam Armstrong Pavilion at David Cruickshank Reserve, Dalkeith between 5:30-6:30pm on the 18 March 2020 to provide nearby landowners, business and occupants an opportunity to discuss the proposal with City Officers.

    Please complete an RSVP for each person attending by 5pm Tuesday 17 March to ensure that the session is adequately resourced.

    The deadline to complete a submission is 5pm Monday 30 March 2020.

    A further extension of time was granted until 22 May 2020 for the report to be provided to the Development Assessment Panel. The additional time has been granted to allow the submission of additional information and amended plans to address concerns from the City, Main Roads and Heritage Council.
