Development Application - 80 Stirling Highway - Captain Stirling Development
On 9 August 2019, the City received an application for the construction of a supermarket, specialty shops, food and beverage tenancies and kiosks, pharmacy, medical centre and a gym. The application included upgrading the Captain Stirling Hotel, car parking and landscaping and the demolition of five neighbouring houses.
The City received amended plans and support documentation in March 2020 which were advertised for public comment for 21 days concluding on 30 March 2020. Further amendments were received in May/June 2020. All submitted plans and support documentation are available for viewing in the document library.
The application was considered by the Metro Inner-North JDAP at its meeting on Monday 29 June 2020. The panel deferred the determination of the application for a period up to 90 days in accordance with section 5.10.1a of the DAP Standing Orders 2017, for the following reasons:
To provide greater certainty on the traffic, transport and access issues;
To provide further information on heritage issues
To address the integration of the project in the Nedlands Town Centre
