The City of Nedlands is inviting community input into the proposed temporary parking restrictions surrounding a development at 129-133 Waratah Avenue, Dalkeith (the development). The development is proposed as a community health and wellness centre which includes active ground floor land uses, medical and allied health services.

The majority of on-street parking surrounding the development is currently unrestricted and primarily used for residential purposes with very few commercial entities operating within the vicinity. It is anticipated that the demand for on street parking will increase markedly when the development begins its construction phase.

The City wishes to ensure the amenity of its residents, sporting clubs, and local businesses are not adversely impacted by the increase in vehicles.

At the Ordinary Council Meeting held 28 May 2024, Council resolved to undertake consultation with residents, businesses and community/sporting organisations to introduce temporary parking restrictions for the streets surrounding the development. The City is required to consult for a minimum of 28 days.

HAVE YOUR SAY

The City is now seeking feedback on three (3) temporary parking restriction options. Each option varies on restrictions and how extensively those restrictions are implemented.

Option 1: Minor changes, implementation of No Parking on one side of Philip Rd and Leon Rd.

Option 2: Installation of 2 hour parking restrictions, between 7am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday across the West Waratah precinct.

Option 3: Installation of No Parking restrictions across the West Waratah precinct. Nedlands residential and visitor permit holders will be exempt from this restriction. Residents will be required to apply through the City for residential and visitor permits.

The City is also proposing to provide alternative parking facilities for construction companies to reduce the overall impact. The parking facility that has been suggested is a section of verge on Victoria Avenue, Dalkeith adjacent the Dalkeith Tennis Club. This area will provide a controlled facility for construction vehicles that reduces impact on the availability of parking for the precinct. The City expects that without a dedicated parking facility, trades vehicles will utilise parking close to the construction site, which will significantly impact our immediate community. This proposed construction parking facility is outlined in Options Two and Three.

The proposed parking restrictions maps can be found in the Documents Library on this page. Please view all three parking options prior to completing the community survey below.

To assist residents with on-street parking requirements, Parking Permits can be issued by the City upon application. Parking permits will be available once the proposed parking restrictions are in place. Please visit the City’s website or contact Ranger Services on (08) 9273 3500 for further detail.

SUBMIT FEEDBACK

This consultation will be open from 8am Friday 29 August 2025 and closing 5pm Friday 26 September 2025.

NEXT STEPS

Submissions from the community as part of this consultation will be collated and presented to Council for consideration.

The City anticipates that after construction is complete, further community consultation will conducted as to the future needs of the temporary parking restrictions in this precinct.
