Leon Road (between Victoria Avenue and Alexander Place) - Road Resurfacing and Associated Works

Work will commence on the section of Leon Road, between Victoria Avenue and Alexander Place, on Monday, 9 January 2017 for a period of up to nine weeks, during the hours of 7.00 am and 5.00 pm, Monday to Friday.

The work is being undertaken as a result of the road suffering substantial fatigue cracking and will include upgrades of kerbing, drainage lids, pram ramps and crossovers.

The timetable is as follows:

• Drainage improvements: 9-25 January 2017
• Kerb removal: 24 January to 3 February 2017
• Road surface preparation: 6-17 February 2017
• Road resurfacing: 20-21 February 2017
• Installation of new kerbing: 22-24 February 2017
• Installation of concrete aprons: 27 February to 8 March 2017
• Finishing works: 27 February to 10 March 2017
• Top layer of road resurfacing: 9-10 March 2017
• Completion: 11 March 2017

During this time, road closures will be in place with detours around the work site. Local traffic will continue to have access whilst closures are in place, with on-site traffic controllers assisting motorists and pedestrians.

There will be periods of time (approximately 4 hours) following the laying of new asphalt road surface where access to properties may be limited due to the drying time of the bitumen. In addition, parking on the road will be required whilst the crossover aprons are being installed to each property.

Properties with reticulation may have their reticulation temporarily re-routed during the construction period. The City will repair any damaged reticulation in the verge, however property owners need to ensure that the reticulation system is tested and any faults are reported to the City within two weeks of the works being completed. After this period the City cannot be held responsible for repairs.
