The Nedlands VRC in partnership with Melville VRC provided a Volunteer Management Training Workshop in celebration of Volunteer Managers Day on Monday 5 November 2018. Facilitated by BullShift Company the workshop titled “Bullshift: how to get more openness, honest and straight talk at work” presented ideas and explored the communication principles of “BullShift”. Twenty eight Volunteer Managers attended from eleven volunteer involving organisations, including City of Nedlands, Meerilinga, Rocky Bay, Lifeline, St Patrick’s Community Support Centre and Department of Wildlife.

An acknowledgement received from a workshop participant summed up the overall success of this training in these words:

“Thank you so much for the provision of a wonderful training workshop and celebration of International Volunteer Managers Day. I just wanted to say how much I appreciate the workshops you offer to volunteer managers. They are always run by informative and engaging people on the cutting edge of their fields. I am very grateful that I have the opportunity to be exposed to and learn from these wonderful people. Thanks again for the hard work you all do for us in the NFP sector.” Melanie, Fundraising and Volunteer Coordinator, St Patrick’s Community Support Centre.

Thirty two participants attended from 14 different local volunteer involving community organisations with an attendee summing up the overall success and participant feedback about the training workshop -

This was one of the best workshops for volunteer managers I have been to. Content very appropriate, relevant and very well delivered and a diverse group of attendees who interacted respectfully but honestly with each other. I felt so fulfilled when leaving. Thank you.”
