Phase 2 Commencement - Community Info Sessions and Sentiment Survey Launch

Following the completion of Phase 1, the City of Nedlands is now progressing to Phase 2 – Preparing the Local Planning Strategy.

On 10 June 2026, Council was briefed at a Concept Forum, marking the beginning of this next stage of the review process. Phase 2 will focus on developing a new Local Planning Strategy to guide the City’s future growth, land use and development outcomes.

This phase will include research and analysis to inform key planning directions, along with updates to supporting sub-strategies such as housing, commercial areas and open space. Importantly, this stage will also involve early community consultation on emerging strategy concepts.

The first opportunity for community involvement will be a series of information sessions, to be held on:

• Monday, 29 June 2026 – Zoom Webinar, 5.30-6.30pm
• Tuesday, 30 June 2026 – In person at Mt Claremont Community Centre, 5.30-6.30pm
• Wednesday, 1 July 2026 – In person at Drabble House, Nedlands, 5.30-6.30pm

Registrations for these sessions will be live shortly and RSVPs are essential. These sessions will provide an overview of the review process and an opportunity to learn more about the project.

This will be followed by a community sentiment survey, opening on 2 July 2026 and available for four weeks, allowing residents and stakeholders to share their views and help inform key themes in the development of the Strategy.

Later on, location specific community workshops will be held to review initial feedback and dive deeper into the detail.

Community engagement remains a key part of this process. Input from ratepayers, residents, businesses and community stakeholders will help shape the direction of the Strategy before it is finalised and submitted to the Western Australian Planning Commission for consideration. We encourage the community to stay informed and get involved as we move through this important phase of the review.
