The Council will be considering the proposed law at its meeting scheduled for 12 February (Committee Meeting) and the ordinary meeting of Council on 26 February 2019.
The PURPOSE of this local law is to make provisions about the regulation of parking or stopping of vehicles in all or specified thoroughfares and reserves under the care, control and management of the local government and to provide for the management and operation of parking facilities.
The EFFECT of this local law is that a person parking a vehicle within the parking region is to comply with the provisions of this local law

The consultation period for providing comment on the draft local law has now closed. The City did not receive any submissions.
The City will progress the adoption of the draft local law by presenting it to Council at its round of meetings scheduled for February 2019 (no meetings in January).

City of Nedlands resolved at its Ordinary Meeting of Council 24 June 2018 to
advertise the proposed Parking and Parking Facilities Amendment Local Law 2018
for public comment.
The PURPOSE of
this local law is to make provisions about the regulation of parking or
stopping of vehicles in all or specified thoroughfares and reserves under the
care, control and management of the local government and to provide for the
management and operation of parking facilities.
The EFFECT of this local law is that a
person parking a vehicle within the parking region is to comply with the
provisions of this local law.

The City adopted the Health Local Law at the Council Meeting on 22 August 2017. This was published in the Government Gazette on 9 January 2018 and will be in operation from 23 January 2018.

The City of Nedlands resolved at its Ordinary Meeting of Council 26 September 2017 to advertise the proposed Waste Amendment Local Law 2017 for public comment.
The PURPOSE of the local law is to provide for the regulation, control and management of activities and issues relating to waste collection, recycling, reuse and disposal within the district of the City of Nedlands.
The EFFECT of the local law is to control activities and manage influences on waste collection, recycling, reuse and disposal within the district of the City of Nedlands.

Since the adoption of the Waste Local Law 2016 the City has commenced an undertaking to make an amendment for the inclusion of an "Objection and appeal rights clause".
The proposed additional clause would read as follows:
Objection and appeal rights
Division 1 of Part 9 of the LG Act applies to a decision under this local law to grant, renew, vary or cancel –
(a) an approval under clause 2.7(b);
(b) an exemption under clause 2.8(2);
(c) an approval under clause 2.10(1);
(d) an authorisation under clause 3.2(1)(c);
(e) an approval under clause 3.2(2); and
(f) an approval under clause 3.3.
Council will consider this at the Ordinary Meeting of Council on 26 September 2017 following which the change will be advertised, gazetted and a public notice issued once effective.

Health (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1911
The City of Nedlands resolved at its Ordinary Meeting of Council 28 March 2017 to advertise the proposed Health Local Law 2017 for public comment.
The purpose of this local law is to provide a statutory means to effectively control issues that have the ability to adversely impact on the health and well-being of the community.
The effect of this local law is to allow health-related issues to be sufficiently controlled so as to provide an acceptable standard for the maintenance of public health in the community.
