The audit is being conducted to support a comprehensive review of the City's asset records, with the aim understanding their specifications and condition. This assessment will be done by City staff, in collaboration with a nominated consultant, who will provide on-site assessment of all laneways within the City.

Laneway measuring and photographic documentation are expected to commence towards the end of November 2025, with the initial audit report anticipated to be presented to Council in early to mid-2026. Community information sessions to formally introduce the project will be taking place across late-February & early-March 2026.

Following completion of the audit, the City will undertake a series of community presentations, briefings for elected members, and broader public consultation. Feedback gathered during this stage will help guide the City’s decisions on the future of each laneway. A community information session during the formal consultation period will be held by the City, likely in mid-2026.

Once consultation is complete, further work will be carried out to implement the outcomes of the audit. The overall project expected to be finalised by the end of 2027.

Additional consultation materials will be distributed upon initial completion of the audit stage, inviting your comments and feedback.

This page is open to all residents of the City of Nedlands for their information; however, the project will mostly impact those with properties directly abutting a laneway.
