What has happened so far?
On 8 May 2020, the application received for the development of a mixed-use development comprising 34 multiple dwellings and a shop tenancy at 79-81 Broadway,Nedlands
Public advertising of the proposal was undertaken for the proposal between 5 June to 27 June 2020.
The application was considered by the Metro Inner-North Joint Development Assessment Panel (JDAP) on 26 August 2020, where it was deferred for a period of no more than 90 days, to allow the applicant to reconsider the design of the development, focusing on plot ratio and height.
What happens next?
Amended Plans have now been submitted by the applicant following JDAP's decision to defer the application for the reasons stated above. These plans are to be considered by JDAP in late 2020 (date to be confirmed). As part of the reconsideration, the City will prepare a Responsible Authority Report (RAR) by 20 November 2020.
What are the changes?
The changes to the proposal have been guided by the reasons for deferral given by JDAP. Changes from the initial proposal include, but are not limited to:
6 storey building
27 Multiple Dwellings comprising:
16 x 2 bedroom
9 x 3 bedroom
2 x 4 bedroom (penthouse)
90m2 Shop Tenancy
66 car parking bays
58 residential car parking bays
8 commercial/visitor bays
Reduction in plot ratio to 2.17 (from 2.49)

How can I make a submission?
Should you wish to make a submission, you can do this by registering to make a deputationat the JDAP meeting, where the item will be considered and determined.
The City’s duty planning officer will be available to assist with general enquiries on this application during business hours, either in person at the City’s Administration Office (71 Stirling Highway Nedlands) or by phone 9273 3500.

Due to recently issued proximity guidelines regarding COVID-19, the JDAP meeting will be live streamed via audio teleconferencing via Zoom. Should you wish to make a presentation to the meeting, this form is required to be filled out and returned to the DAP secretariat.
