The City of Nedlands is inviting your comments on an amended Development Application (DA) at No. 135 Broadway, Nedlands

This application was previously approved.
Amended Plans have now been received for the proposed development at No. 135 Broadway, Nedlands.

The City is providing the opportunity for you to find out more about the revised plans and to provide a submission, as follows.

What has happened so far?

  • On 27 April 2021, the application received for a proposed seven-level mixed-use development at No. 135 Broadway, Nedlands, comprising serviced apartments and eight multiple dwellings.
  • Public advertising of the proposal was undertaken for the proposal between 19 February 2020 to 14 March 2020.
  • The application was approved by the Metro Inner-North Joint Development Assessment Panel (JDAP) on 3 April 2020.

Revised proposal

Following a recent change in ownership of the site and subsequent review of the approved plans, a decision was made to remove the serviced apartment component from the approval and to reduce the overall number of units within the building, as follows:

  • Replace all serviced apartments with multiple dwellings. A total of 16 multiple dwellings are now proposed. Modifications associated with the amalgamation of units to multiple dwellings.
  • Remove two levels of basement parking. All parking will now be from the ground floor, aided by car stackers.
  • Replace the café on the ground floor with an internal gymnasium area for use by the residents.
  • Increased side setbacks to the northern and southern properties, above level 1.

How can I make a comment about the proposed Development Application?

The City will notify in writing all nearby property owners and occupiers of this development according to the City’s Local Planning Policy for Community Consultation for Planning Proposals.

Stakeholders are invited to submit feedback online.

Feedback received will be taken into consideration in the development of formal recommendations by the City to the DAP who will make the final decision on the proposed development.

Made a previous submission?

All submissions received during the first advertising period will continue to be considered in the assessment of the application. This means that you can elect not to make a second submission and your views will continue to be considered. However, if you wish to make a submission on the amended plans, both submissions will be considered.

    Community Information Sessions will be held by appointments only on 26th May 2021 from 4pm–6pm at the City of Nedlands Council Chambers. The City will have 20-minute appointment slots for community members in which City Planning Officers will be able to assist with general enquiries on this application.

    Due to current limits placed on indoor gatherings and the capacity of the meeting room, confirmed appointments to the Community Information Sessions are essential to able to attend. Those without confirmed appointments will be turned away to facilitate those who have made appointments due to capacity limitations.
