The City of Nedlands has recently received an application for a residential development located on the corner of Jenkins Avenue and Louise Street.

The proposal can be summarised as follows:

  • 6x Multiple Dwellings (Apartments)

    Amended plans have now been received for 21-23 Louise Street.
    The applicant has advised that the key changes made are as follows:

    • Reduction in the length of townhouses by 0.5m
    • Increase in separation between the townhouses and the apartments
    • Planning changes in the apartments to address privacy and overlooking
    • Increased setback and articulation in the apartments
    • Planning changes to the apartments to increase northern solar access
    • Relocate the main entry to the apartments centrally to increase legibility
    • Changes to the basement layout but overall no change in resident parking
    • Addition of 1 visitor parking bay to increase to 3 bays total
    • Additional deep soil area to accommodate 1 large tree

    Amended plans are provided to the community for information purposes only, and are available from the Document Library.
    The City's Responsible Authority Report is now due with the Joint Development Assessment Panel on 13 November 2020.

    The Metro West JDAP considered the development application at 21-23 Louise Street at its meeting held on 23 September 2020. It was decided to defer determination of the application on the basis of further modifications being made to the plans to achieve the objectives set out in the Residential Design Codes Volumes 1 and 2. The specific elements requested to be modified are outlined in the JDAP minutes which can be viewed here.

    The Metro West Joint Development Assessment Panel (JDAP) meeting has been scheduled for 9am Wednesday 23 September 2020 for determination of this application.

    Due to social distancing guidelines regarding COVID-19, the JDAP meeting will be live streamed via audio teleconferencing via Zoom. Should you wish to make a presentation to the meeting, this form is required to be filled out and returned to the DAP secretariat.

    Community Information Sessions will be held by appointments only on Monday 22 June 2020 from 4pm–6pm at the City of Nedlands Council Chambers. The City will have 20 minute appointment slots for community members in which City Planning Officers will be able to assist with general enquiries on this application.

    Due to current limits placed on indoor gatherings and the capacity of the meeting room, confirmed appointments to the Community Information Sessions are essential to able to attend. Those without confirmed appointments will be turned away to facilitate those who have made appointments due to capacity limitations.
