    The City has completed its community consultation for the Perth Children's Hospice which ran from the 12-26 September 2020.

    Summary of the results are outlined below:

    • Of 113 respondents, 111 supported the project in principle (98.2% in favour), with 2 not supporting and 1 neither supporting or not supporting
    • Of 111 respondents supporting the project in principle, 92 supported the project at Allen Park (82.9%)
    • Of 38 City on Nedlands responses, 36 supported the project in principle (94.7% in favour), 22 supported the project at Allen Park (57.9%)
    • Of 29 Swanbourne responses (City of Nedlands and Town of Claremont), 26 supported the project in principle (89.7% in favour), 13 supported the project at Allen Park (44.8%)
    • Of 24 Swanbourne responses (City of Nedlands only), 22 supported the project in principle (91.7% in favour), 9 supported the project at Allen Park (37.5%)

    Expressions of Interest to join the Site Assessment Working Group have also closed. The City received 20 submissions from Swanbourne residents and the selection process was to take place at the City Administration Building on Monday, 12 October 2020. This will now be occurring on Wednesday, 14 October 2020.

    Successful candidates will be notified first. Once those successful candidates have accepted their place, all other unsuccessful candidates will be notified.

    Note: Additional names will be selected to ensure we have a replacement on the working group if someone declines their offer.

    The outcome of the Community Consultation will be discussed at the October Council Meeting on the 27 October 2020. The Site Assessment Working Group members will also be endorsed at this meeting and a Councillor will be elected to Chair this working group.

    The first meeting of the Site Assessment Working Group will be scheduled following the Council Meeting.

    The City is inviting community engagement in the following ways:

    1. Residents located in Swanbourne are invited to express their interest in joining the City's Site Assessment Working Group.
    2. All community members of the City are invited to provide feedback on the proposal.


    How do I express my interest in joining the Site Assessment Working Group?

    • To be eligible to join the Site Assessment Working Group, you must be a property owner or resident of Swanbourne.
    • Please read the Terms of Reference to confirm you agree to the terms and conditions outlined.
    • Complete an Expression of Interest Form by 5pm Saturday 26 September 2020. No late applications will be accepted.

    At the Council Meeting on the 25 August 2020, the Council voted unanimously to launch community consultation for a proposed Perth Children's Hospice.

    The City is finalising the community engagement for this project and the community engagement period will begin Saturday, 12 September 2020, for the community to provide feedback.


    Members of the community can be involved as follows:

    • Swanbourne residents will have the opportunity to join a Site Assessment Working Group to discuss the proposal. Expressions of Interest for this working group will be open from Saturday, 12 September 2020 until 5pm, 26 September 2020. Terms of Reference will be available as of 12 September.
    • All City of Nedlands residents can complete an online submission about the proposal when submissions open on Saturday, 12 September 2020. Submissions will be accepted until 5pm, 26 September 2020.
