We’ve listened and you’re right. Lawler Park needs a refresh and that’s what we are doing!

Our plan is to provide a consolidated and renewed look for Lawler Park focused on providing grouped activity areas to provide more green space and areas for play. For those with a fitness focus, a new gym area is proposed on the northern side that will hold a selection of body weight exercise machines. We’ll renew the existing basketball court making it a proper half court as well as renew the cricket pitch giving it a new lease on life. The existing AFL goals will remain (with a bit of a tidy up of course). An exercise path surrounding the park is proposed to allow scooters, bikes, prams, trolleys, push carts and anything with wheels a track to go around.

For those who are more inclined to watch the action, new bench seats will now be strategically placed to allow for more area to play and still provide a close eye on what’s going on. The existing BBQ will remain in place.

For younger users, the current equipment will remain including the swings, but we’ll be replacing the soft fall rubber matting under it. We’ll also be providing a nature play area, a safe place where younger children can climb, balance, jump and play over nature tree logs. These will also allow for seating for those who don't like to rough it.

As ever, saving our precious water is important, so the plan looks to address the City’s hydro-zoning needs and provides some areas with new garden beds, low water use plants and mulched areas. This will help us save water and still provide a safe and easy access area for all.

Feedback invites closed at midnight 25th October 2021. These will be reviewed and a report provided to Council shortly.
