Consultation has concluded

The City of Nedlands continues to progress the underground power across the City.

The final projects comprise of:

Western Power have awarded the contract to Alliance Power & Data Pty Ltd (APD) for the design works of the remaining three projects. This work is expected to be completed by late 2021.

  • Carrington Street: redundant power lines being removed

    Cable Layers Australia will be undertaking works on Carrington Street on Sunday 18 November to remove redundant power lines as part of the Hollywood West underground power project.

    The west bound lane heading towards Loch Street (between Weld and Ord Street) will be closed from 7.30am to 1pm to ensure the power lines are removed safely.

    Traffic management will be in place during this time to enable motorists and pedestrians to pass safely. Full access will be available to the side streets during this time.

  • When will the remaining sections of the City receive underground power?

    Residents have been asking when will the City be placing underground power in the remainder of the City.

    The City is planning to complete the balance of the undergrounding of the remaining aerial power systems as part of the ten year financial plan. Consequently, it is anticipated that the works will be completed during the next decade, however the exact timing for each area has yet to be determined.


  • Nedlands (West Hollywood) Underground Power Project Progressing

    The underground power project is progressing to schedule. A summary of the current status follows:

    • Completion of Loftus Street cable jointing – testing in preparation of commissioning for house changeovers.
    • Napier Street completion of drilling both sides of the road.
    • Transformer installation on Government Road complete.
    18 resident issues reported with 17 closed out and one awaiting further action. All issues have been reported direct to the Contractor (Cable Layers) which reflects the effectiveness of the distribution of the resident project advices.

    The proposed dates for construction and status of completion for each of the zones are as follows:
