Road Rehabilitation Project: Melvista Avenue
This notice is on behalf of Town of Claremont.
Road Rehabilitation for Melvista Avenue (between Bay Road and Stone Street) is scheduled to commence on Tuesday 29 September 2020, with an expected completion date by Friday 9 October 2020 (weather permitting).
The proposed sequence of events of works is as follows:
- Week 1: Remove existing kerb (where applicable), cut and remove some crossover entries with access still provided to residents into their property, undertake drainage improvements, remove existing road surface to a maximum depth of 50mm, install the required type of kerb (including in front of crossovers);
- Week 2: Lay asphalt surface to a maximum of 50mm deep, reinstate and repave crossovers, backfill behind kerbs, general clean up, including reticulation repairs.
Some crossovers may need to be modified by the Town's contractor, with the relevant material to better match the new levels of the newly constructed road. When this occurs, please do not remove the cones as concrete that has been laid may be curing or the new asphalt cooling. During this time, alternate arrangements may need to be made when accessing properties, for a maximum of 24 hours for concrete curing.
Works are expected to occur between 7am and 5pm on weekdays.
