Kids' Bridge - Road Closures

CLOSED: This discussion has concluded.

On behalf of Main Roads WA

The Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation Kids’ Bridge will be a three metre wide, 217-metre long pedestrian bridge over Winthrop Avenue in Nedlands, connecting the Perth Children’s Hospital and Queen Elizabeth II Medical Centre to Kings Park. The facility will provide families with the opportunity to escape the rigours of their hospital journey by safely visiting Kings Park.

What’s happening?
To facilitate delivery and installation of bridge segments between the Health campus and the median, Winthrop Avenue, between Aberdare Road and Monash Avenue, will be CLOSED in both directions from 8pm Friday 2 April to 5am Monday 5 April.

Detours and impacts
Road users are encouraged to plan ahead as there will be delays with a detour in place using Aberdare Road, Smyth Road and Monash Avenue to return to Winthrop Avenue.

Pedestrian and cyclists - detours will be operating through the work site, see map in the document library.

Multi-story car park access – access will be permitted via traffic management from the traffic signals at Aberdare Road and Winthrop Avenue heading south only. If approaching from Monash Avenue road users will need to use the detour to seek access. Please refer to the map in the document library for more information.

Next closure
Another road closure will be implemented from Friday 16 to Monday 19 April 2021 to enable delivery and then lifting of the large bridge segments between the median and Kings Park.
