Do you use Monash Avenue or Smyth Road on a regular basis, or live or work near this intersection?

During 2018 engagement was undertaken on a proposal to construct a roundabout at the T-Junction where Monash Avenue and Smyth Road intersect. Following the engagement, the Council approved for the roundabout to be constructed.

The roundabout proposal came as a result of the recent development at the QEII Medical Centre, Hollywood Hospital and surrounds and the need to improve traffic efficiency, particularly at peak times.

The City have appointed contractors, Civcon Construction to progress with the roundabout construction which will commence from the end of April.

The section of Smyth Road (Karella Street to Aberdare Road) will be closed to motorists to construct a roundabout at the intersection of Smyth Road and Monash Avenue to improve traffic safety and efficiency, particularly at peak times.

Local traffic management will be provided for residents, pedestrians, cyclists and parents of Hollywood Primary School children during this period and detours will be in place around the site to assist motorists who use Smyth Road as their main route (see map).

Signage will be on display at the works site, advising of motorists of the road closures and detours.

The road closure will ensure that work can be undertaken safely and with the least disturbance to road users and residents.

We thank you for your patience during this time.

The City wishes to advise you of a proposal for road modifications at the intersection of Smyth Road and Monash Avenue.

As part of the 2018/19 Capital Works Program, the City is proposing to construct a new roundabout at the existing T-Junction with Smyth Road and Monash Avenue (see document library for concept drawing). This proposal comes as a result of recent development at the QEII Medical Centre, Hollywood Hospital and surrounds, in an effort to improve traffic efficiency at this intersection particularly during peak times.

Prior to the proposed road modifications being programmed, the City would like to understand your views and/or if this impacts you, particularly stakeholders within close proximity to the proposed roundabout
