Why has the City selected this location for traffic calming measures?

The City has heard the voice of the community and have selected this location based on the residents demanding a solution to the ongoing issues around road safety, noise and speed.

Why has the City selected this location for a Shared Path?

The Shared Path proposal will provide a 360m long and 2.5m wide, red asphalt off-road shared path on Quintilian Road between Brockway Road and the Perth-Fremantle PSP.  This proposal is to ultimately connect the Brockway Road shared path from Underwood Avenue to the Perth-Fremantle PSP.  This project is important because it is the last stage of a three stage project to link Floreat (and the other northern suburbs) in the Town of Cambridge to the Perth-Fremantle PSP.  The Brockway Road shared path Stage 1 and 2 is due to be completed in 2020/2021.

What are the benefits associated with the three separate projects for Quintilian

    Traffic Calming Measures

The Traffic Calming and Parking proposal uses physical design and other measures to improve safety for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists.  Traffic calming has become a tool to combat speeding and other unsafe behaviours of drivers in the local roads.  It aims to encourage safer, more responsible driving and potentially reduce traffic flow.

    Shared Pathway

The installation of the footpath is expected to enhance accessibility and provide pedestrians with a safe place to walkFormalising this third and last stage of the Brockway-Quintilian Shared Path will ultimately increase business, recreation and tourism opportunities due to links to other key strategic destinations such as Elizabeth Quay, Kings Park, the Perth CBD, Perth City shops, Fremantle, UWA, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, the West Perth business district and the Swan River. While it is expected that the majority of users will be commuters, school children and recreational users, due to the direct link to the PSP and a lack of cycle connections to the PSP, usage is expected to increase significantly.

Are trees going to be affected?

The City has a policy in relation to maintaining trees.  Up to nine trees have been identified as needing removal due to their location. Some trees may also need to be pruned for the construction of the footpath.

Will the number of car parking bays change?

The endorsed concept for the shared path at Quintilian will result in a reduction of 28 car parking bays on the northern side (reduced from 52 to 24).  There will be additional on-road parking bays on the west-bound side of Quintilian Road,
