What happens after advertising?
City Officers will review the comments and may amend the policy accordingly. The final draft is expected to be presented to Council for adoption in early to mid 2023. If you comment on the proposal you will be contacted when the item is presented to Council.
When does the policy take effect?
The policy will need to be adopted by Council before it takes effect. It is expected that a final draft will be presented to Council in early to mid 2023. Some aspects of the policy will require WAPC approval before they can take effect. Please see the R-Codes Matrix for more information on which items require WAPC approval.
Should Council adopt the policy, it will be referred to the WAPC for approval of the necessary elements. Elements that do not require WAPC approval will come into effect when a notice of the adoption of the policy is publicly posted, usually 1-2 weeks after Council approval.
