Following the completion of the Local Planning Strategy and its submission to the Western Australian Planning Commission, the City has now commenced the preparation of the new Local Planning Scheme No.3.
The Council have been attending a series of workshops to finalise the details of the new Local Planning Scheme 3.
The scheme provides details as to how the Council will implement the Local Planning Strategy.
The Scheme includes detailed information about how the Council will accommodate the State mandated additional 4,400 residential dwellings within Nedlands which is to be accommodated along Stirling Highway, Hampden Road and Broadway as well as in the redevelopment of the old Shenton Park Hospital site, while preserving the unique spacious and leafy character of the City.
Once Council has formally considered and refined the draft Scheme, it will submit it to the Western Australian Planning Commission for approval to advertise and to seek public comment in 2017.

The City has been overwhelmed
with the number and quality of the responses for the Local Planning Strategy

responses and presenting a report to the July 2016 Council meeting.
