PUBLIC NOTICE

In accordance with section 3.12(3)(a) of the Local Government Act 1995, Notice is hereby given that the City of Nedlands proposes to make the following local laws:

Dogs Local Law 2023

The purpose of this Local Law is to make provisions about the confinement of dogs, control the number of dogs that can be kept on premises in the district, and to require removal of dog excreta. The effect of this local law is to extend the controls over dogs which exist under the Dog Act 1976 and Regulations. The respective proposed Dogs in Public Places Council Policy can also be obtained for public viewing as part of the consultation process.

Parking Amendment Local Law 2023

The purpose of the Local Law is to amend the City of Nedlands Parking and Parking Facilities Local Law 2013 to ensure definitions reflect those in the Road Traffic Code 2000, add provisions preventing parking in cul de sac heads, add provisions about parking on or near painted traffic islands, clarify provisions relating to the parking of vehicles that may be abandoned, unregistered or disused, clarify provisions relating to stopping or parking in clearways when in operation and increase penalties. The effect of this local law is to amend the City of Nedlands Parking and Parking Facilities Local Law 2013.

Repeal Local Law 2023

The purpose of the Local Law is to repeal outdated or unused local laws that have been superseded by other legislation or no longer have any effect. The effect of this local law is to ensure the local laws are repealed.

Public Places and Local Government Property Local Law 2023

The purpose of the Local Law is to regulate the care, control and management of property of and under the care, control and management of the City including thoroughfares. The effect of this local law is to establish offences for inappropriate behaviour in or on City property.

Copies of the proposed Local Laws may be inspected or obtained from the City’s Administration office located at 71 Stirling Highway, Nedlands WA 6009 between the hours of 8.30am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday, or at any public library within the City of Nedlands district during normal opening hours.

Submissions about the local law can be made directly to the City on yourvoice.nedlands.wa.gov.au or to the Chief Executive Officer, via email – council@nedlands.wa.gov.au or by mail to 71 Stirling Highway, Nedlands WA 6009 on or before 5.00pm Friday 30 June 2023.
