Background

At its Ordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday 27 May 2025, the City of Nedlands resolved to defer a decision on the proposed licence agreement for the John Leckie Pavilion – College Park Sporting Association to allow for community consultation.

The Council resolution requested community consultation be undertaken to achieve a proposal that is acceptable for community and sporting users.

The aim of this consultation survey is to gather feedback from community and sporting users to help shape a proposal that reflects the needs and expectations of the community and sporting groups.


Purpose of this Consultation

The City is seeking community feedback on a proposal by the newly formed College Park Sporting Association Inc. to licence a portion of the John Leckie Pavilion, located at College Park in Nedlands.

The proposal involves granting the Association a licence for the Pavilion's upper-level hall. Full details are available in the Council report from 27 May 2025, which can be found in the Documents section at the top right of this page.

We invite you to complete the survey on this page. Your feedback will help inform Council’s decision, scheduled for consideration at the August 2025 Ordinary Council Meeting.


About the Site

College Park

College Park is one of the City’s most popular and heavily used recreational reserves. It is vested in the City of Nedlands and includes several areas available for community hire via the SpacetoCo bookings platform, including:

These spaces are regularly used by City sporting clubs including:

  • Claremont Junior Football Club
  • Westside Wolves Hockey Club (Minkey)
  • UWA Nedlands Football Club
  • Western Suburbs Cricket Club
  • Other community sporting organisations.

John Leckie Pavilion

Located within College Park, the Pavilion includes both upper and lower-level facilities used by a variety of community and sporting groups.

Upper-Level Hall

  • Publicly hireable via SpacetoCo
  • Purpose-built for music, featuring;
    • Organ
    • Grand piano
    • Speaker system
  • Additional amenities:
    • Kitchen
    • Accessible toilet
    • Balcony
    • Storage room
    • Lockers.

Lower Level

  • Community hub room
  • Music practice room
  • Three storerooms
  • Public toilets
  • Four sports changerooms
  • Sports clubrooms with kitchenette.

    The City of Nedlands is seeking community feedback on a proposal to licence the upper level of John Leckie Pavilion, located at College Park in Nedlands, to the newly formed College Park Sporting Association Inc.
