The City’s last review of the Local Heritage Survey (LHS) was in 2014 under previous legislation. The City is due for a review of the LHS and consequentially the Local Heritage List (LHL). Reviews of these documents are required by the Heritage Act 2018 and the Planning and Development (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015. The public benefits from these reviews by ensuring documentation of significant places is recorded, maintained and expanded where appropriate. The information in the LHS informs what protections should be placed on significant places to preserve them for future generations.

Stephen Carrick Architects have been appointed by the City of Nedlands to undertake the review of the LHS and LHL for the entirety of the City. As part of the review process Stephen Carrick Architects will be undertaking street front assessments of places already included on the LHS and LHL as well as any new potential inclusions.

The City is seeking your input too. If you know of a place that has heritage significance and is not included in the City’s existing LHS or LHL, please nominate the place. Nominations can be submitted using the nomination form below.

Information sessions will be held in late May. If you are interested, please register your interest in the form below.

Once nominations close, the City will review the submissions and continue research with the appointed architects. Further consultation on the Draft list will occur later in the year.

Community members and landowners with questions, concerns or suggestions about the project are requested to contact Casey Hill, Coordinator Strategic Planning, or David Johnston, Strategic Planner, on 9273 3500 or email planning@nedlands.wa.gov.au.
