What has happened so far?

  • On 15 January 2020, the application received for the development of 10 apartments (multiple dwellings) at 5 Hillway, Nedlands
  • Public advertising of the proposal was conducted during February 2020.
  • The application was considered by the Metro Inner-North Joint Development Assessment Panel (JDAP) on 22 May 2020, where it was refused
  • An application for review (appeal) of the decision by the State Administrative Tribunal was subsequently lodged by the proponents.

What happens next?

Amended Plans have now been submitted by the applicant following mediation. These plans are to be considered by JDAP by the end of September 2020. As part of the reconsideration, the City will prepare a Responsible Authority Report (RAR) by 18 September 2020.

What are the changes?

Changes from the initial proposal include, but are not limited to:

  • Removal of the first-floor car park and creation of a below ground car park basement.
  • Removal of one apartment from the top (6th) floor with a replacement apartment now located on the 1st floor (former car park).
  • Changes to setbacks and separation distances.
  • Changes to windows and balconies.
  • Changes to the roof design.
  • Changes to materials and finishes of the building and landscaping.
