FAQs
What is a Disability Access & Inclusion Plan (DAIP) and why does the City of Nedlands need one?
The Disability Services Act 1993 requires all Local Governments to develop and implement a Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) to ensure people with disability have equal access to facilities and services.
The City of Nedlands Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2018/19 – 2023/24 is available to view here.
This document is available in alternative formats on request, including standard and large print, electronically via email and in digital audio format.
Why does the City of Nedlands need a new DAIP?
The Disability Services Act 1993 requires all Local Governments to review and renew their DAIP every five years. Each Local Government is required to have a current DAIP endorsed by Council and lodged with the Disability Services Commission.
How can I provide input to the new 2023/24 - 2028/29 DAIP?
Anyone can provide input by completing the public consultation survey or participating in the public consultation sessions on Wednesday 14 June between 2pm and 4pm at the Nedlands Library, or on Wednesday 21 June between 5pm and 7pm at the Hakea Room, Mt Claremont Community Centre.
To arrange alternative methods of providing input please contact City of Nedlands Administration on 9273 3500 or commdev@nedlands.wa.gov.au
What happens after the community consultation period has closed?
All community consultation will be collated and this information will form part of the new Disability Access and Inclusion Plan. Once the community consultation period has closed, consultation will take place with internal stakeholders. The draft plan will then be presented to Council for endorsement.
When will the new Disability Access and Inclusion Plan be available?
The 2024-25 – 2028-29 DAIP will be available from 1 January, 2024.
