The City of Nedlands is inviting your comments on a Development Application (DA) at 100 Montgomery Avenue, Mt Claremont. The application will be considered and determined by the Metro Inner-North Joint Development Assessment Panel with the City of Nedlands responsible for the assessment and making a recommendation to the Panel.

The Proposal
The City of Nedlands has recently received an application for the development of a two-storey child care centre and six single storey aged and dependent persons dwellings on the 3,306m² site, which fronts Montgomery Avenue north of the Mt Claremont Library and Community Centre.

The proposal can be summarised as follows:

  • Construction of a two storey child care centre (early learning centre) on the southern half of the property to accommodate the following:
    • Up to 93 children and 17 staff
    • Operating hours of 6:30am – 6:30pm Monday-Friday
    • Under croft parking for 32 vehicles
    • Driveway with access to Montgomery Avenue
  • Construction of six (6) single-storey aged and dependent persons dwellings on the northern half of the property to accommodate the following:
    • Central driveway with direct access to Montgomery Avenue
    • 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with outdoor living area
    • Enclosed garages
    • Intended for aged housing (over-55’s), but being considered as ‘aged and dependent person’s’ dwellings.

Please note that the aged and dependent persons housing component of this application was previously advertised for public comment. As the previous application is no longer being considered, members of the public who made a previous submission are requested to make a new submission based on this new proposal.

The City will notify in writing all nearby property owners and occupiers of this development according to the City’s Local Planning Policy for Community Consultation for Planning Proposals.

Stakeholders are invited to submit feedback online.

Feedback received will be taken into consideration in the development of formal recommendations by the City to the DAP who will make the final decision on the proposed development.
