The City of Nedlands is inviting your comments on a Development Application (DA) at No. 40 Portland Street, Nedlands.

Background

On 17 June 2020, the City advertised for public comment a proposal for 11 multiple dwellings (apartments) to be constructed at 40 Portland Street, Nedlands. Prior to the application being determined, amended plans have been submitted by the proponent.

The amended plans are now being advertised for public comment prior to forming the basis of the assessment of the application to be conducted by the City.

The Proposal

The proposal can be summarised as follows:

    • Two storey building
    • 11 Multiple dwellings comprising:
      • 7 x 2 bedroom dwellings
      • 4 x 1 bedroom dwellings
    • 11 resident car parking bays and 1 visitor bay

What are the changes to the original proposal?

Changes from the initial proposal include, but are not limited to:

  • Relocation of ground floor units, with associated changes to the location of boundary walls.
  • Relocation of the bin store and car parking.
  • Deletion of first floor drying areas and relocation of first floor balconies.
  • Reduction in street setback.

How can I make a comment about the proposed Development Application?

The City will notify in writing all nearby property owners and occupiers of this development according to the City’s Local Planning Policy for Community Consultation for Planning Proposals.

Stakeholders are invited to submit feedback online.

Feedback received will be taken into consideration in the development of formal recommendations by the City to the DAP who will make the final decision on the proposed development.

Made a previous submission?

All submissions received during the first advertising period will continue to be considered in the assessment of the application. This means that you can elect not to make a second submission and your views will continue to be considered. However, if you wish to make a submission on the amended plans, both submissions will be considered.

    This information session has passed.

    A Community Information Session will be held by appointment only on  29 June 2020 between 4pm and 6pm at the City of Nedlands Council Chambers. The City will have 20 minute appointment slots for community members in which City Planning Officers will be able to assist with general enquiries on this application.

    Due to current limits placed on indoor gatherings and the capacity of the meeting room, confirmed appointments to the Community Information Sessions are essential to able to attend. Those without confirmed appointments will be turned away to facilitate those who have made appointments due to capacity limitations.
