Are you a local resident or do you use Foreshore Reserve 28307 in Dalkeith (located between Bishop Road Reserve and Point Resolution)? Would you like to provide your comments on the draft concept design plan to rehabilitate this area?
Draft Concept Plan
The City has received funding from the Department of Biodiversity Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) through its 2020-21 Riverbank grants program for the project “Foreshore Reserve 28307 Greenway Corridor Development Stage 1”. This project aims to develop a concept design plan and control environmental weeds.
Issues being considered in the draft concept plan:
Amenity – this area is currently unmanaged and has extensive environmental weed invasion. The project aims to improve the management and amenity of the area.
Climate change - continued climate change with increased temperatures, rising sea levels and increased risk of storms and floods will result in increased erosion of the Swan River foreshore and adjacent infrastructure.
Accessibility and community use – access is currently unmanaged in the area, the concept plan aims to formalise access for river foreshore users and adjacent residents.
Environmental Conservation – this project aims to reinstate and re-connect native fringing foreshore vegetation, expanding green areas and native habitat.
Protection of infrastructure – this project will reduce erosion and protect adjacent residential properties and infrastructure.
