  • Carrington Street: Underground Power Works - partial road closures

    During January 2019 there will be partial road closures on Carrington Street between Dalkeith Road and Ord Street to facilitate the removal of overhead power lines and the installation of new underground street lighting.

    To assist with the smooth and safe movement through the work site detours will be in place.

  • Cape Utilities - Stage 2 - Selby Street to Shenton Park Sub Station HV Upgrade to commence

    Cape Utilities are commencing the second phase of the Western Power High Voltage (HV) Network upgrade of new power cables from the Selby Street, Shenton Park sub station to the corner of Senate and Melville Streets Claremont.

  • Underground Power - Energy Minister announces results from SUPP Round 6

    The Energy Minister, The Hon. Mike Nahan has announced today the successful applicants for the State Underground Power Program (SUPP), Round 6. Unfortunately the three (3) proposals by the City of Nedlands were unsuccessful.

    However, the proposal by the Town of Cambridge which includes the City's boundary (Alderbury Street) at Floreat was successful.

    The Council at its meeting on 27 September 2016, resolved for administration to continue seeking options for the provision of underground power to the City.

    The City will be meeting with representatives from Western Power during October 2016 to explore options outside of the funding program.

    During October 2015 Council considered the feasibility of completing the installation of underground power for approximately 2,200 residents within the City by means of a series of borrowings together with resident contributions, in order to install underground power to the remaining lots.

    Council at its meeting on 26 April 2016, authorised the submission of these applications for the installation of underground power to the remaining lots in response to the Underground Power Funding Program. The outcomes from these submissions will be known during August 2016. For further information, please refer to our engagement page.
