    Work is progressing steadily with the rehabilitation of Swanbourne Oval to with a number of factors relating to the project requiring a staged approach. However it is anticipated that work will be completed by October.

    The leveling of the oval will commence soon together with the installation of the irrigation system, cricket wicket, parks furniture and the establishment of the new grass surface. The car park and pathways are currently undergoing design review. Once this has been completed major components of the rehabilitation works will re-commence.

    Broadleaf weed control is being undertaken on all turf areas within the City's parks and reserves during August and September by licensed contractors under the supervision of City staff.

    Due to the unpredictable nature of weather conditions, exact dates for spraying cannot be confirmed. However signage, as required by the Health (Pesticides) Regulations 2011, will be clearly displayed during the application process. The signage will be placed at each location and remain in place until the surface is dry.

    The operations will be monitored by City staff in accordance with safety guidelines.

    Please do not to enter onto the area while the signs are displayed.

    City staff will be in attendance during and after treatment will be able to assist you with any questions.

    The product being used is a weed-specific selective herbicide consisting of the active chemical combination of MCPA - 300 g/L + Clopyralid - 20 g/L + Diflufenican - 15 g/L and will be applied in accordance with the product label as required by state and federal laws.

    The annual rose pruning at the Peace Memorial Rose Garden on Stirling Highway will be starting the week of 2 July.

    Community members wanting to get some expert tips on rose pruning – to get the best spring bloom results – are welcome to attend and ask experienced gardeners any questions they may have.

    The City’s gardeners will be at the Peace Memorial Rose Garden during fine weather for several weeks to complete the pruning.

    The City completed the landscaping upgrade of Lesley Graham Reserve and the Godetia Gardens nature strip (outside the Arenga Court units).

    The landscape upgrade improves the amenity of the reserve and gardens. Works includde creating uniform plantings using a range of waterwise plants, removing inappropriate plants, converting areas of poorly performing turf to garden beds, mulching, installing kerbing to separate the garden areas from the turf areas and constructing a small loop path.
