Dalkeith Road (Melvista Avenue to Vix Street) - Road Resurfacing and Associated Works

CLOSED: This discussion has concluded.

The City has appointed Roads2000 to undertake road resurfacing and associated works on Dalkeith Road, between Melvista Avenue and Vix Street from Monday 9 October for up to a period of five weeks.

These works will be undertaken during weekdays, from 7am to 5pm. The schedule for the works follow:

  • Preparation works (e.g. capping of reticulation, installation of signage, paint markings): 2-6 October
  • Kerb removal and base reinstatement: 9-11 October
  • Installation of new drainage pits: 11-12 October
  • Road profiling: 13 October
  • Asphalt corrector and primer seal: 16-17 October
  • Installation of new semi-mountable kerbs: 18-19 October
  • Remove and reinstate crossover aprons: 19-20 October
  • Reticulation Repairs: 19– 20 October
  • Asphalt Installation: 23– 26 October
  • Finishing works: 24-26 October

Local Traffic - Access and Road Closures

Road closures will be in place with detours around the work site whilst this project is being undertaken.
Local traffic will continue to have access whilst closures are in place, however there will be periods of up to four hours when access to properties will need to be restricted to allow the bitumen laying to be completed. On-site traffic controllers will be happy to assist during this time.

Reticulation

Where necessary, reticulation will be temporarily re-routed. This may result in the reticulation in the verge being damaged whilst the works are being undertaken. Any damage during this period will be repaired by the City.

However, if you are a property owner or resident, please ensure that the reticulation system is tested and report any faults to City within two weeks of the works being completed. After this period the City cannot be held responsible for repairs.
